Finasteride (propecia) for women

Is Propecia (Finasteride) effective for women?

There is no study proving the action of Finasteride by women. Moreover, it would lead to a raise in the risk of breast cancer. Finally, the treatment is strictly not recommended for pregnant women because it could cause a malformation of the male foetus' sexual organs. Finasteride is not recommended to women for all these reasons. Some practicians tried it on menopausal women and they say they obtained a certain success. However, a double-blind study that was carried out by 137 women did not show any difference between the Finasteride group and the placebo group.
