How we discovered the effect of propecia (finasteride)

Unlike the legend it was not discovered by accident. Indeed, we knew for a long time that the eunuchs did not ever lose their hair. On the other hand, we knew that the subjects who genetically did not have the enzyme producing DHT from testosterone, were not protected from hair loss. Also, these subjects did not develop any adenoma of the prostate. We then began to look for an enzyme inhibitor. This is how Finasteride was discovered. For the time being, we use it as Proscar 5mg and Finasteride 1mg.
