Dr. Jean Devroye, FISHRS

Expert in hair transplant

Member of ISHRS

Graduate of the University of Liège in Belgium, Jean Devroye is Doctor of Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics.

Since 2000, Dr Devroye has specialised exclusively in hair restoration. He developed this passion in the late 1990s, when he decided to go to the United States in order to complete most of his training under Dr John Cole (Atlanta, USA).

Other doctors such as Dr Bradley Wolf (Cincinnati, USA), Dr Ron Shapiro (Minneapolis, USA), and Dr Robert Bernstein (New York, USA), who are among the best hair transplant surgeons in the world, also shaped Dr Devroye’s training, enabling him to build on his theoretical and practical experience.

Dr Devroye also specialises in eyebrow, beard and moustache transplantation. He uses both the FUT and FUE techniques.

As a true innovator, he focuses on improving instrumentation for hair transplant.
For the last six years, he has even developed his own motorized system and his own tool for extracting follicular grafts.
He is recognized by its peers for his research on the quality of grafts growth. He is by the way in charge of a global study on the growth of transected hair in donor area for the FUE Research Committee.

Dr Devroye has intense international activity. He attaches great importance to sharing all his knowledge. That is the reason why – under the auspices of ISHRS – he participates in many conferences and workshops, where he often gives presentations or live surgeries demonstrations.
These conferences are places for exchange and discovery, opportunities to share his technique and his own instrumentation.
He also writes many publications and text book chapters about hair restoration.

Dr. Jean Devroye has been awarded with the prestigious Platinum Follicle – instituted to honour the huge contribution of researchers in improving the quality of hair transplant procedures (FUE and FUT) – during the 25th ISHRS World Congress, which took place in Prague from October 4th to October 7th, 2017.

TECHNICAL INVENTIONS AND RESEARCHES

2022 WAW DUO SYSTEM Pedal, wireless handpiece, dedicated tablet.

2020 WAW implanters

2016 Involved in Dr James Harris' research on the comparison of FUE and FUT grafts regrowth by a same patient.

2014-2015 In charge of a global study on the growth of transected hair in donor area for the FUE Research Committee. Results will be presented in next meeting in Chicago.

2015 Partner for the FUE study: « implanteur VS forceps », in collaboration with Dr Parsa Mohebi.

2012-2015 Conception and free diffusion of a software «TGQ» (Transection graft quality) which enables a precise graft quality overview and calculates the main transection rates automatically. Such a software helps to apprehend the quality of a FUE procedure and follows the evolution of a newcomer in the hair transplant surgery field.

2009-2015 Conception and demonstration of a FUE foot pedal with oscillating hand piece. Variable speed and oscillation have regularly been showed during the past live surgeries.

2014-2015 Conception of a complete series of FUE punchs with different degrees of sharpness. These punches are designed to be compatible with the FUE foot pedal. This foot pedal is regularly used during the later live surgeries.

2008 Hairmes » first version was presented in Montreal in 2008 during the ISHRS 16th Annual Meeting, consisting in a hair transplant area and density measurement software. In association with Mr Alexandre Duvallet (software developer).

2000 First time presentation of a USB camera during the ESHRS meeting in London to observe the donor and recipient areas.

2000 Software for Calculating Recipient Site Area & FUE Density.
